½ teaspoon ginger, grated (or ½ teaspoon ground ginger)
¼ teaspoon cinnamon, ground
A pinch of black pepper
1–2 teaspoons maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar (adjust to taste)
¼ teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)
¼ cup water (for blending)
Instructions
Blend the Spices: In a small bowl, combine the turmeric powder, ginger, cinnamon, and black pepper. If using fresh turmeric and ginger, grate them finely.
Heat the Coconut Milk: Pour the coconut milk into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat. Be careful not to boil it.
Add the Spices: Once the coconut milk is warm, add the spice mixture to the saucepan. Whisk well to combine and prevent any clumps.
Simmer and Stir: Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally. This will allow the flavors to meld together beautifully.
Sweeten to Taste: Remove the saucepan from the heat and add your sweetener of choice (maple syrup, honey, or agave nectar). Start with 1 teaspoon and adjust to your desired sweetness.
Add Vanilla Extract (Optional): Stir in the vanilla extract for an extra layer of flavor.
Froth (Optional): For a café-style latte, you can use a milk frother to create a foamy top. Or, simply whisk vigorously until slightly frothy.
Pour and Enjoy: Pour your Turmeric Coconut Milk Latte into your favorite mug. Sprinkle a pinch of cinnamon on top for garnish, if desired. Sip and savor the goodness!
