Ingredients
Scale
- 16 ounces of good quality chocolate (dark, milk, or a combination)
- ½ teaspoon of peppermint extract
- 1 cup of crushed peppermint candies or candy canes
- White chocolate for drizzling (optional)
- Sea salt for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Chocolate: Melt the chocolate using a double boiler or in the microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth. Stir in the peppermint extract.
- Spread the Chocolate: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone mat. Pour the melted chocolate onto the prepared sheet and spread it evenly into a thin layer, about ¼ inch thick.
- Add Peppermint Candies: Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies evenly over the melted chocolate.
- Optional Drizzle: If desired, melt white chocolate and drizzle it over the bark.
- Chill and Break: Place the baking sheet in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, or until the chocolate is firm. Once firm, break the bark into irregular pieces.
- Serve and Store: Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place.
