Ingredients
Fresh Ginger: 1-2 inches, peeled and thinly sliced
Lemons: 1-2, depending on your preference for tartness
Water: 4 cups, filtered
Honey or Maple Syrup (Optional): To taste
Optional additions: A pinch of cayenne pepper, a sprig of mint, or a slice of orange
Instructions
Peel and thinly slice the fresh ginger.
In a saucepan, bring 4 cups of filtered water to a boil.
Add the sliced ginger to the boiling water. Reduce the heat and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the juice of 1-2 lemons. Be careful not to add lemon juice while the water is boiling, as it can turn bitter.
If desired, strain the tea to remove the ginger pieces.
Add honey or maple syrup to taste, if desired. Start with a small amount and adjust to your liking.
Pour the tea into mugs and enjoy hot. You can also let it cool and serve it over ice for a refreshing iced tea.
